As part of 2019 BrisAsia Sound, the duo played their first ever gig down under as a headliner at QPAC – Green Jam. The K-Indie Music Festival brings K-Indie’s representatives and the genre’s best from South Korea. Working together with the team at the Korean Cultural Centre Australia, Utopia Entertainment provides advice and recommendations on marketing strategies, looks after touring aspects, and operates production on the festival day. K-Indie Music Festival 2024 is part of VIVID Sydney - Tumbalong Nights.

Utopia Entertainment teamed up with UQ Life to present the University of Queensland’s first-ever major Korean Pop event, featuring Brisbane-born Korean pop idol Jason Hanbyul Jang. He journeyed all the way from South Korea.

As a co-presenter, Utopia Entertainment worked closely with both UQ Life and the Korean Cultural Centre Australia, managing all aspects of touring and production for local, interstate, and international acts.

Utopia Entertainment is a Brisbane based production company specialising in Live Entertainment (especially Asian Pop touring), Creative Placemaking & Public Experiences. Passionately founded by Gemma Truong, an experienced creative producer, Utopia is dedicated to fostering creativity through collaboration.

 

Gemma’s extensive involvement in large-scale multicultural festivals and events has earned her recognition as a skilled producer. She has also spoken at prestigious events like the Inter-Asia Popular Music Studies Conference in Melbourne (2016) and Biennial Conference of the International Association For The Study of Popular Music in Daegu, South Korea (2021).

 

Aside from work, Gemma spends a lot of time thinking and scribbling about cultural identity. She has contributed to discussions on cultural identity, with publications on Sweet and Sour Zine (Zine for Asian/Australians), Kindling and Sage Magazine for Women of Colour and Myriad Magazine (UMSU People of Colour Department's publication).
